UDOM: Announcement For The Junior Academic Staff Proposal Submission
ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE UDOM JUNIOR ACADEMIC STAFF PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
The Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic Research and Consultancy, through the
Directorate of Research and Publications, Innovation, Consultancy and Institutional
Collaboration (DRP, CIC) is pleased to announce some modification to the March
2019 JAS submission.All Junior Academic staff who have prepared proposals for possible submission are invited to apply for to the principal through the College Research and Publication Coordinator to participate in a workshop organized by the DRP, CIC for the JAS on 8th March, 2019.
This workshop is for capacity building for the Junior Academic Staff (TAs, ALs and
Lecturers); therefore any applicant should team up with a mentor (a senior member
of staff) to guide and mentor the proposal development process.Following the workshop, proposals which will be brushed for submission shall be Levaluated using a standard too for possible funding. The tool considers the following standard sections.
1. Title: A clear topic relevant to UDOM Research Agenda (college wise or inter
college)
2. Structured abstract (maximum 300 words), that includes all
subheadings of the proposal; general objective, methodology, expected
results (to fill a gap or create new knowledge or innovation)
3. Background and the Statement of the Problem: The problem that the
project will address should be relevant and addresses societal development
and/or Innovative.
4. Rationale: A clear rationale for the existence of the problem at hand should
be well documented.
5. Objectives: Objectives should be specific, measurable, attainable/achievable,
relevant to the problem being addressed and clear
6. Methodology: Should reflect clear research procedures to be followed to
attain the stated objectives. Demonstrate clear strategies on how to achieved
each
7. Action Plan: Indicates a clear timeline and schedule of activities which seem
to be achievable and realistic
8. Expected Results: Demonstrate the application of the contemporary
solutions and innovations that could promote societal development. (A
mention on how the results will benefit both the research world and the
society).
9. Financial Proposal (budget with justification): Demonstrates
reasonable and realistic budget proposal which conform to the stated
research activities as reflected in the action plan and should not exceed
twenty million Tanzanian shillings.
10.Language: Demonstrates a clear and concise use of British English language
or Swahili if the study is on Swahili literature (mixed language will not be
accepted).
Submission:
Following scrutiny and approval by College, submission should be directed to the
DRP, CIC secretariat in both soft and hard copies Organization of the proposal: The title page should contain the title and authors’ details only; the abstract should be on page two and the body of the proposal from page three on wards
Submission deadline: 1st March, 2019 at 02:00pm (1400hours)
